Abstract   Clinical records and pathological materials from 12 patients of malignant lymphoma of the testes between 1970 and 1989 were reviewed. Testicular involvement was presented primarily with a painless testicular mass in 10 patients and was secondary to systemic lymphoma in 2 patients. Patient age ranged from 12 to 72 years, with a median age of 44 years. The disease was stage I, in 5 patients, stage II, in 4, stage III, in 2 and stage IV in 1. Two of 3 stage I, patients became affected by generalized malignant lymphoma within 6 months. Bilateral testicular involvement was noted in 3 of 12 patients(25%). Histologically, most of the neoplasms were of the diffuse large cell type (Working Formulation). Three patients were lost during follow-up. Median survival was only 10 months in the remaining 9 patients who received various kinds of treatment modalities. The short interval free of disease in stage I patients and the rapid death of most patients imply that most testicular lymphomas are a manifestation of multicentric origin of systemic malignant lymphoma. The prognosis of malignant testicular lymphoma is generally poor, irrespective of therapy.
